Periwinkles Parent and Child Group

Periwinkles Steiner Waldorf Parent and Child Group

Periwinkles has had to close, we hope only temporarily, as there is currently no-one able to lead the group. We hope that as and when a new leader emerges, a new lease of life will begin for the parent and child group.  Get in touch if you think that might be you!

We offer a warm welcome at Periwinkles Parent and Child Group, for children from birth to 3½. Periwinkles offers a warm and supportive place for young children and their families.

Each session follows a familiar rhythm so the children feel secure and at home. Each week the parents take part in a seasonal craft which the children can join or choose to play freely. We also bake fresh organic bread with the children and involve them in making the other food for the shared snack time. We then all eat together, followed by ring time where the children and parents sing songs and tell stories. Periwinkles has a small garden on the farm and the morning finishes with time outside, working in the garden together.

From their earliest days the children will be lovingly supported while they build friendships, explore the natural world and find their feet (literally) and their place within the world. Parents and carers can come together to share experiences, learn new skills and support each other through the highs and lows of parenting. Periwinkles gives parents who are not familiar with Rudolf Steiner’s theories of child development and education a chance to get a feeling for what is offered in the Kindergarten.

Fees are £5.00 per session per child and £1 for additional children in the family. The fees cover craft materials, refreshments and snack for adults and children. We strive to keep the snack organic as much as possible.

The children will need slippers for indoors as this is a ‘home from home’ and also good, warm, waterproof gear and wellies for outside playtime. Please bring sunhats and cream for late spring and summer. Spare clothes are always a good idea.
